Bye bye ugly tile!

I told Brad it was his turn to update the blog 2 weeks ago. We see how that went. :o)

When last we left our intrepid Bradley, he had just started to demolish the upper cabinet. On Friday, I went to work, and Brad went to the house. His first order of business... Finish off that upper cabinet. Most everything came off of it ok. However, the top of the cabinet was ATTACHED to the ceiling. How attached? Well, first there were the painted over, impossible to find 3-6 inch screws. Awesome.

Once Brad had dispensed with those pesky screws, there were the nails to deal with. Good thing Brad was now armed with his super large pry bar. That is a crap-ton of nails. Eek!

Alright. Job 1 completed. Time to take a break. Let's check in on Sir Marcus, job foreman. Good job watching out for trouble Marcus!

Job 2 is up next - the bottom part of the peninsula. So, off he went. Notice the linoleum is still on the floor. Brad was also now armed with his new sawzall. Score!

Enter Heather at about 3:15. I was highly impressed with Brad's progress. I thought I might help a bit. So, I did. Bye bye linoleum.

I also figured out that trying to pry the brick tile off of the floor is for chumps. The new hotness? Cover it with some tarp and hammer that crap out. With that, it was time to go get Sydney and go home for the day.

On Sunday, Brad went back to the house to get some work done without us. When we decided to join him, he had made a pretty good dent into the tile.

Sydney determined that Daddy was too loud, so she went ahead and used some hearing protection. Uncle Lar would be so proud.

While Brad hammered out tile, I was peeling off wallpaper off of the walls in the living room. It was literally like peeling off huge pieces of duct tape.

When I was done, here's what was left. The easy part is done. The hard part (getting the glue off of the wall) is up next. Ugh. We'll get to that later though.

After some good progress, we went back to the house. Fast forward to last Friday. Brad suited up and finished the tile. Bye bye ugly tile! Well, except for the floor of the laundry room and the entry area off the garage. Oh well. Good job Brad!

Even though it's half ripped up, I still think it looks better than it did originally.
